Species of Euphilomedes from colder waters of California have long generation times (Baker 1977), and experimental laboratory rearing suggests that colder water is correlated with longer generation

Two species of Myodocopina, Two of the species of Myodocopina, Skogsbergia lerneri (Kornicker, 1958), and Harbansus paucichelatus (Kornicker, 1958) had been reported previously from both Bahamian ocean blue holes and the Bahama platform, and one species of Myodocopina Asteropteron chelisparsa (Kornicker, 1958) had been reported previously from the Bahama platform. A broad array of the highly variable morphological characters available in Ostracoda were used (1) to construct a new tabular key to the families of the subclass Myodocopa (and to differentiate the Myodocopa from the Podocopa), and (2) to explore the evolution of bioluminescence in the myodocopid family Cypridinidae.

Sierella chierchiae. Coifmann Background: Skogsbergia lerneri (Kornicker, 1958) is a species of ostracod which, like all crustaceans, has a protective exoskeleton (or carapace). As well as that ostracod compound eyes, including Cypridina norvegica, Philonmedes globosa, Macrocypridina cas- tanea, and Skogsbergia lerneri have six R-cells and.
(Elofson, 1969), Skogsbergia lerneri (Cohen, 1983), and Vargula hilgendorfii (Henmi and Okamato, 2003). In addition, life histories and development times of a limited number of species have been described based on seasonal field sampling and length-width regressions of multiple instars (see review in Cohen, 1983). Within Myodocopida,

Two species of Myodocopina, For all species examined (Vargula tsujii, V. graminicola and Skogsbergia lerneri), the difference spectra for visual pigment absorbance peaked at 460nm. 4. The luminescence emission spectra were measured by means of a computer controlled optical multi-channel analyser (OMA).
(2010) 14. Hemocyanin was identified in Myodocopida (Actinoseta jonesi, Cypridininae sp., Euphilo-medes morini, Skogsbergia lerneri, Vargula tsujii) and Platy-copida (Cytherelloidea californica) but not in Podocopida. We found no evidence for the presence of hemoglobin in any of these ostracod species.
